Bill kept a diary and Dictaphone log of his two month adventure back in 2010, where he walked 570 miles to raise money for St Margaret’s Hospice.
“It was a few months after my wife died back in 2010 that my son persuaded me to walk from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean on the GR10, a long distance trail through the Pyrenees mountains on the French/Spanish border”.
“I’d always said I was going to walk through those mountains when I retired and so I did it to raise money.
“It took me two months, during which time I lost two stone in weight and the descent is equivalent to five times up Everest.
